Dr. Alexander grew up in East Texas
and attended Nacogdoches High
School. He then graduated Magna Cum Laude from Stephen F. Austin State
University and obtained his medical
education at Des Moines University
School of Osteopathic Medicine and
Dr. Alexander initially wanted to be a Family Physician and he completed a one year internship at Brazos Family Medicine Residency in Bryan, TX. His exposure to Obstetrics during this time positively impacted his career forever. Dr. Alexander quickly realized that his true calling was with Obstetrics and Gynecology. This resulted in the completion of a four year residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Texas Tech University in Amarillo. While there, Dr. Alexander performed research to evaluate the correlation between fetal pyelectasis diagnosed by prenatal ultrasound and urinary disorders diagnosed in infants after delivery. He served as co-president of the Texas Tech resident house staff organization and won several awards including the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists Resident Recognition for "Special Excellence in Endoscopic Surgery" and a resident essay competition on "Advanced Pelvic Floor Surgery."
After residency, Dr. Alexander practiced for 1.5 years at Eastern Oklahoma Medical Center in Poteau, OK. He moved to the Texoma area in December of 2010 to be closer to family. Dr. Alexander became board certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology in 2011. His professional interests include minimally invasive gynecologic surgery and pre-eclampsia. Practice Philosophy
Residency can teach a physician "book knowledge", but personal experiences mold each doctor. Dr. Alexander's wife's pregnancies were complicated by severe pre-eclampsia (HELLP Syndrome) and two separate car accidents. These two pregnancies helped him understand the anxiety and emotional strain that patients and family members experience as they migrate through the constantly changing maze that is pregnancy. As a result, he tries hard to empathize with patients to understand their unique fears so that concerns can be addressed. In our opinion, the doctor-patient relationship is built upon the framework of a team mentality which requires open communication. You are always encouraged to ask questions.
From a medicine standpoint, Dr. Alexander strives to follow the most recen... Moret evidence based medicine guidelines and stays up to date with the latest surgical and non-surgical treatments.
